Like Softshare Athena, Vista makes the viewing, creation, and exchange of EDI documents as easy as e-mail. Its forms-based system translates the unfriendly EDI data format into easy-to-read HTML business documents. And when you create EDI documents, attractive HTML forms display that prompt you for the exact information required.
But Vista's Windows-based environment and expanded feature set provide for some advanced options that Athena, Softshare's Web EDI solution, doesn't support. Most notable of these are FTP communications, AS2 compliance, and event-driven document management.
Flexible Communications
When sending and retrieving documents, Vista can connect directly to
your trading partners (or other third-party networks) or it can connect to a private
mailbox on Softshare’s value-added network.
If you decide to route your documents through Softshare’s network, you’ll use Vista’s built-in configurations
to connect to us via the HTTP protocol.
If you decide to bypass our network, you’ll use Vista Professional’s add-on FTP mailbox template.

Secure Communications
Vista Professional supports S/MIME security features including digital certificate
management, document encryption, and digital signatures. Message Disposition
Notifications (MDNs) are also supported, bringing Vista Professional into full compliance
with the AS1 security standard. If you’re looking to comply with the AS2
security standard, Vista Professional can be enhanced with the add-on AS2 bridge component.
