When it comes to extreme adventure tours, REI is the guru. REI's name, as well as its respected line of
outdoor recreational gear, bring to mind guided treks through Nepal, icy Antarctic cruises, and scenic
cycling tours. But when REI decided to embark on a new kind of adventure, a third-tier EDI rollout adventure
to be exact, it looked to Softshare as its guide.
 REI appreciated Softshare's scalable
suite of EDI software. Being able to offer a low-cost, Web-based solution to its third-tier vendors was REI's main objective;
however, REI also wanted to offer more sophisticated solutions to its EDI-compliant vendors who were unhappy with
the limitations of their current Web-based solutions.
After setting up a few test REI vendors on Softshare Athena, Softshare's Web-based solution, REI (and its test vendors)
realized that Softshare had more to offer than just scalable solutions. Intuitive features, efficient bar coding
capabilities, and top-notch customer service were all part of the Softshare package.
