Update: Microsoft Windows Vista

In the previous issue of Softshare Times, we asked you to hold off on upgrading to the new Microsoft Windows Vista operating system until Softshare had sufficient time to test compatibility with our Softshare Vista, Delta, and ECS applications. Since then, we have updates for you regarding running Softshare Vista and Delta on this new operating system.

Softshare Vista Gets a Green Light

We’ve given Softshare Vista the green light for use with Windows Vista. However, there are special Softshare Vista installation and setup steps that you must take in order to successfully run Softshare Vista in a Windows Vista environment. These are outlined in the Softshare Knowledge Base (SKB) article titled Running Softshare Vista on a Windows Vista Computer.

Softshare Delta Gets a Yellow Light

Yellow is often the color of warnings. And that’s why we give Softshare Delta a yellow light when it comes to Microsoft Windows Vista. Softshare doesn’t formally recommend installing Delta on the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system because it requires that Delta always be run under administrator permissions in order to ensure compatibility, which is not always desirable or feasible.

But if you absolutely must install Delta on a Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, we have provided the special Delta installation and setup steps that you must take in order to successfully run Delta in this environment. These are outlined in the Softshare Knowledge Base (SKB) article titled Running Softshare Delta on a Windows Vista Computer.
