Softshare ECS is Compatible with SQL Server 2005

Last December, Softshare announced that we were discontinuing support for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0 for all new ECS server installs and upgrades. At that time, we also announced that we were testing ECS' compatibility with SQL Server 2005.

Today, Softshare is pleased to announced that ECS is fully compatible with SQL Server 2005. With the exception of SQL Server Express, all 2005 SQL Server editions are now supported for use with ECS.

When using ECS in conjunction with SQL Server 2005, there are several integration requirements to consider:

• Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6 or later must be installed on every computer that will access the ECS SQL Server database.
• TCP/IP connections via a static communications port must be enabled for the target SQL Server installation, via the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
