Softshare Passes Secure Internet EDI Interoperability Testing Sponsored by CommerceNet

Softshare is Doing Its Part to Make the Internet More Secure for the Exchange of EDI Business Documents

SANTA BARBARA, CA. – October 7, 1999Softshare, a provider of EDI software and services, announced today that it has successfully completed Secure EDI Internet Interoperability testing on its Electronic Commerce Objects. The purpose of the CommerceNet-sponsored testing is to encourage the standardization and interoperability of security technology between Internet-enabled EDI products.

The testing is based on S/MIME specifications and ensures that all products certified under the interoperability testing are able to support encryption, digital signatures, integrity, and signed receipts. Softshare is in good company with other EDI leaders such as Harbinger, Sterling Commerce, and GE Information Services participating in the Secure Internet EDI Interoperability testing.

“At Softshare, we understand the importance of security in today’s digital arena,” said Robert Fox, Softshare Product Manager and CommerceNet testing liaison. “That’s why all our e-commerce software products support the most widely deployed security standards.”

The development of solutions that allow the secure, protected exchange of EDI business documents over the Internet is critical. By promoting the development of interoperable secure Internet-enabled EDI products, CommerceNet and testing participants are accelerating the rate of Internet adoption by EDI-capable businesses.
