New Release of Softshare’s EDI Desktop Software, Softshare Vista, Provides EDI Solution for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

SANTA BARBARA, CA. – June 22, 1998 – Softshare, a leader in electronic data interchange solutions, announced today the immediate availability of Softshare Vista 1.1. The new Softshare Vista release includes many user-friendly enhancements to further help small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from EDI technology.

The latest version of Softshare Vista builds upon a core product that integrates EDI, e-mail, encryption, and Web technologies right at the computer desktop. Targeted towards the small and medium-sized business, Softshare Vista’s user-friendly, Windows-based interface provides a comfortable and familiar manner in which to exchange EDI documents. Rather than requiring proficiency in EDI, Softshare Vista provides pre-programmed and pre-tested trading partner templates that perfectly mimic traditional paper documents such as purchase orders, invoices, and advance ship notices.

Softshare Vista 1.1 incorporates several new prominent features including peer-based networking. In a small workgroup environment, Softshare Vista users can customize personal desktop settings while still having access to all key documents. A central administrator takes on the role of adding and deleting network seats as well as assigning individual read, create, and delete privileges. Other innovative features added in this release are ANSI X12.58 security support, dynamic HTML presentation of EDI documents, mail folder searching, tight integration with Softshare’s iSearch Web site, and Y2K compliance.
