Softshare Makes EDI Notepad Available as a Free Download

EDI Notepad, Softshare's proprietary EDI editor, is now available for download at softshare.com

Santa Barbara, US / Amsterdam, NL.—June 5, 2006 —Softshare, a provider of e-commerce products and services since 1982, announced today the availability of EDI Notepad, its proprietary EDI editor, as a free download from Softshare's Web site. Previously only available as a utility that shipped with Softshare's EDI applications, EDI Notepad provides an intuitive interface for viewing, editing, and building EDI documents.

"Initially, Softshare developed EDI Notepad as an in-house tool for its programmers and customer service representatives," said Robert Fox, Softshare's Director of Product Development. "But we quickly realized what a powerful EDI editing tool it was and, in 1999, began bundling it with our EDI software applications. Today, we're making it accessible to the general public so that anyone working with EDI can do so from the convenience of an EDI-aware application."

Supporting ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and TRADACOMS standards, EDI Notepad features several EDI viewing modes including HTML, structured EDI, text, and hex. It also provides syntax validation, edit tools, document delivery capabilities, and automated functional acknowledgment generation. EDI Notepad was designed foremost to be an EDI viewing and editing tool, but it can also be used to build EDI documents from scratch.
