Softshare's Blue-Ribbon ACORD Solution

As the recipient of the ACORD 2004 Early Soap Framework Adopter award, Softshare has earned bragging rights for our ACORD solutions. Since 2001, we've kept our clients ahead of the curve when complying with ACORD's data standards for the insurance, reinsurance, and related financial service industries.

Our ACORD solutions consist of several components: Softshare Delta, our data translator; Softshare ECS, our electronic commerce server; and optionally, the Softshare Web Services Toolkit, a collection of tutorials and features to assist with the implementation of the ACORD SOAP messaging framework. Using these components, you have everything you need to create, send and receive, and translate ACORD documents, both JV XML and EDIFACT, as well as ACORD XML messaging service operations.

Softshare Delta

Softshare Delta is Softshare's data translator. It supports translation between EDIFACT and XML (the two major business document formats required for ACORD compliance) as well as translation from these formats to flat file, database, and text formats—and vice-versa.

ACORD Transaction Standards

Our clients have used Delta to model and map ACORD's various transaction types:

  • RETACC
  • RESETT
  • REBORD
  • RECLAM
  • JV XML (2001, 2003, and 2004 versions)

ACORD XML Messaging Service Operations

Our clients have used Delta to model and map ACORD's various XML messaging service operations:

  • PostRq
  • PostRs
  • StatusInRq
  • StatusInRs
  • CallRq
  • CallRs

Per ACORD's specifications, these message types are found within the body of the SOAP framework and, depending on the message type, can carry EDI, XML, or other types of business documents as attachments. Delta's Web services features make it possible for you to wrap the SOAP framework around your outgoing ACORD messages and attachments as part of the translation process—or peel the SOAP framework away from incoming messages and attachments before translating them.

Softshare ECS

Softshare ECS is a server-based communications application that works closely with Softshare Delta. It supports HTTP, the communications protocol most commonly used with the SOAP framework and ACORD's transport protocol of choice. ECS also supports the security protocols (HTTP trading partner authentication and TLS/SSL secure transmission) that ACORD recommends.

Softshare Web Services Toolkit

The Softshare Web Services Toolkit is a collection of advanced product features, documentation, and tutorials that highlight how to best use Delta and ECS to bring your Web services solutions to life. One of the tutorials that ships with the toolkit is the ACORD Messaging Service Tutorial. Providing maps and detailed instructions for implementing sample ACORD Web services solutions, this tutorial is a great primer for your own ACORD solution.

In addition, installation of the Web Services Toolkit enables a number of XML security features in Delta. These features include support for the unique security functions required by eReinsurance, including future support for the XML DSig digital signature standard that eReinsurance is intending to migrate to.
