Grocery Industry

The grocery industry is an old pro when it comes to EDI. As early as 1976, the industry was looking toward EDI as a possible solution to the ever-growing amount of paperwork required to do routine business. With the help of the Uniform Communication Standard (UCS), EDI standards were released in 1982 for general use by the grocery industry.

Today, EDI use in the grocery industry is more prevalent than ever. UCS has kept up with emerging technologies such as EDIINT AS2, a secure communications standard used to transfer EDI over the Internet.

Some of the common EDI transactions being exchanged within the grocery retail industry are listed next.
