Migrating Your Map

Softshare Delta 3.0® New Feature

As new EDI versions are released, it is common for companies to embrace these new specifications because new specifications accommodate new ways of doing business. However, when the version of an EDI document is updated by you or your trading partner, Delta’s models and maps need to be updated as well so that they can continue to accurately translate that EDI document.

Delta has an EDI model migration feature that lets you easily convert an EDI document (and any maps that incorporate that EDI document) to a different EDI version. The biggest benefit of this feature is that it allows you to change the version of an EDI model without having to recreate the maps that incorporate this model, saving you considerable time and effort.

To migrate a model/map to a different EDI version:

1. From the open EDI model, select Tools|Migrate.

2. At the EDI Model Migration screen, select the EDI version you would like to migrate to. Illustration 1

3. As a default, the “Migrate maps that use this model” option is checked. Uncheck this option if you do not want Delta to update any associated maps with the new EDI version.

4. Click OK.

5. If you chose to migrate all associated maps in step 3, Delta displays the titles of the maps that will be affected. Uncheck any maps that you do not want updated with the new EDI model version. Illustration 2

6. Click OK. Delta completes your model and, if applicable, map migration and displays the Model/Map Migration Results screen. Illustration 3.

7. If Delta notes any discrepancies between the two EDI versions, it is imperative that you open and review any resulting maps to ensure that all map rules were successfully migrated. To do this, highlight the map from the Files Produced window and click Open. Illustration 4

8. Repair any rules that are highlighted in red.
