Softshare History

In the 20+ years that Softshare has been doing business, it has had a diverse history. From its time-sharing services of 1982 to today's business-to-business e-commerce solutions, Softshare has never hesitated to take on new challenges and direction under the leadership of Frank Gott, Softshare's president.

In 1982, Softshare began its journey as a time-sharing service of high-speed computers. This led to a large client base of government contractors. Capitalizing on this new client base, Softshare began providing government contract notification services in 1984 via proprietary network and e-mail-based solutions.

Softshare expanded its offerings in 1992 when the federal government embraced EDI. To keep its client base ahead of the competition, Softshare developed a single-source EDI solution and value-added network that allowed government contractors to electronically exchange vital purchasing documents with the United States Government.

Recognizing EDI's value to all businesses, Softshare enhanced its EDI software to support business-to-business EDI. Softshare's desktop software was augmented with standard EDI business document templates such as purchase orders, invoices, and advance ship notices to support e-commerce relationships between any two trading partners.

Since 1993, Softshare's EDI offerings have grown into a suite of e-commerce software applications created for small and large businesses alike. Our network has grown along with our software, supporting prevalent Internet communications and security standards.

In 2005, Softshare went international, opening European headquarters in the Netherlands. Based in Amsterdam, Softshare B.V. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the California-based Softshare Inc., selling and supporting Softshare's suite of e-commerce software across Europe.

Every day, Softshare continues to improve upon its products and services, providing clients with the latest in e-commerce technology. Today, thousands of businesses rely on Softshare for its Web, desktop, data translation, and client/server e-commerce solutions.
